Music Scholarships
Joyful Orange awards yearly scholarships to children ages 4-9 for piano and violin lessons in the Denver Area. Three students are currently on scholarship under this project.
Research and philosophy supporting early music lessons:
Each child is born with a musical aptitude. According to research done at Temple University, if children receive early music experiences, they retain their original level of aptitude. If they do not receive music experiences in their early years, they will lose this aptitude. The earlier music experiences are provided, the more the child will retain. It is for this reason that Joyful Orange has dedicated itself to fund this scholarship.
The Music Scholarship Includes:
- Individual weekly lessons for the violin or piano for one year
- Instrument rental allowance of $25/month
- Music books
